Undated letter, written early 2000

Howdy,

Just a short note to wish you peace and happiness from the ‘old town’  I purchased this paper at the Sleepy Hollow canteen on Prince Edward Island.

I thought I’d send you a copy of the letter I sent to the boss here about what happened on the weekend.  I’m just a hoping to get it removed from my file here, if that’s possible.  Save this letter for me will ya.  I’m saving all my letters so that maybe I can write a book around them sometime.  Most people are amused by my letters, I’ve noticed, this one is serious though.

Brian S. (from Parole) called yesterday and suggested I withdraw my application until I hear from Wayne Clark.  That’s going to set things back a few months.

I was talking to Irene a couple of times and I think we’ve agreed that I’m not interested in going there again.  It’s too far away (in time) and required too long of a commitment.  But I’ll wait and see what Wayne says about it.

Brian S. tells me I have to outline in detail where I’m going to live and what I’m going to do for the next year (till June 2000).  This is not easy to do.  I think my options are limited to either Guelph or more remotely Vancouver.

I met a guy in Guelph at an NA meeting who has? Runs? A group that owns several houses in Guelph and rents out rooms to recovering addicts. If I could get in one of those places I would be able to go to school part time to get the Technical Writing certificate.  I think this would be acceptable to parole, maybe you could call this guy in Guelph for me and get his address so I can write to him, I can’t call him from here.

Or, in Vancouver, there’s a place like Talbot House that I’ve heard will accept people who have been kicked out of a treatment centre before (Irene says that usually causes problems).  I’ve written to several colleges in Vancouver for info on their technical writing programs, maybe you could search for it on the internet for the address so I can write, it’s also called Turning point.  You could cross reference that name with Vancouver and addictions and it should come up.

I guess that’s about all for now.  You’ve got lots to read here anyway.

Oh ya, one of the guys in Talbot House with me was found dead yesterday (od) yesterday.  Two of us are in jail and most of the others, except about five that I know of, maybe more, are back on drugs again.  Not a very good success rate is it?

And that’s all, ok.  See ya,

Reg
