Human bones have been discovered near the site where a missing P.E.I. man's car was found last week.

Reginald MacDonald, 39, has been missing since Dec. 4. Over the weekend, people travelling on ATVs through the woods near Bayfield discovered his purple Grand Am.

Personal items of MacDonald's were found near the car Tuesday, and police have now confirmed that bones found near the site are human.

Officials said it could take months to determine whether the remains are MacDonald's, but they said there are no other recent reports of missing people in the area.
